About the project

This is a platform that aims to ease the process of finding a home for potential tenants and landlords exclusively. It offers a wide range of options such as apartments, houses, rooms, and student housing across Denmark, making it easier for potential tenants to find a suitable home.

Goal

One of the primary objectives of this project was to redesign an existing product that was founded in 1998 to make it more modern. During this time, significant attention was given to improving the registration flow for both tenants and landlords. This effort involved a comprehensive analysis of the existing registration process, identifying its weaknesses, and redesigning it to make it more user-friendly.

Design style

I created a comprehensive user interface design from scratch for desktop and mobile devices' screen resolutions. This involved not only the visual aspects of the design but also the user experience and functionality considerations. I used Sketch and Zeplin, so developers could have full access to the prototype and design assets.

In addition to the UI design, I also created a UI kit that can be used for future design work. This kit includes a variety of design elements such as icons, buttons, and other graphical assets that can be easily incorporated into future designs. By creating this kit, I was able to streamline the design process and ensure consistency throughout all of the design work.

Tenant flows

After analyzing product analytics, I found that the majority of tenants register using their smartphones. This is likely because many people browse housing ads while on-the-go or during their daily commute, making it more convenient to register through their smartphone. However, when it comes to conducting more in-depth research and comparison of housing options, tenants tend to use their laptop or desktop computer.

Challenges

Previously, the registration process for both tenants and landlords was a long one-page form that required users to add their personal information, a description of their desired accommodation, and credential information.

After analyzing the form and required information, I restructured the layout into an easy-to-follow 4-step flow. The new flow is designed with clear visual cues to guide users through each step, where content is grouped by semantics. Additionally, the new flow is optimized for various devices, ensuring users can complete the process on their preferred device and easily navigate between the steps.
