Producing a podcast
Side project
About the project
During the pandemic, I started listening to podcasts more often.
I recently moved to Estonia, and I started blogging. I was thinking about how to promote my Instagram page. That is how the idea of recording a podcast was born.
Problem
The world was closed, and everything was happening remotely and online. What topic should I choose, what equipment do I need, what topic to speak about, and how to promote a new show?
Hypothesis
By creating a podcast, I will grow my blog audience.
Discovery
I didn't know much about what's needed to create a podcast. I was also planning to record remotely. I contacted two podcasters to learn more about their setup and searched a lot around blogs and YouTube videos.

My idea was to invite interesting guests and interviewing them about their education, careers, and pet projects. And my next step in the discovery was market research analysis – Ukrainian podcasts for women about career and self-development.

User Research
I surveyed to understand target audience and learn about their interests and hobbies. I also asked if they were listening to any podcasts. 30% of respondents said they were listening to podcasts and shared their favorite shows.

Definition
I researched devices, remote recording services, and audio editing software. I also created a visual style for promo materials.

I felt scared a lot to dive into this unknown adventure, but I reached that point where I could not stop doing it.

Episode development
I created a process of how the episode was born. Within eight steps, I was coming from zero to a ready-to-listen-to interview.
